Flying with Easyjet

Based in Luton, United Kingdom at the London Luton Airport, easyJet is a low-cost airline that flies to more than 30 different countries, with some of the most popular easyJet flights those to Copenhagen, Paris and Berlin. Along with Ryanair, it is one of the largest low-cost airlines with a fleet of over 200 aircraft, comprised of a mixture of Airbus and Boeing planes. Aside from its headquarters at London Luton Airport, the company also has major bases at London Gatwick, Milan Malpensa, Bristol and London Stansted airports.

This airline used to previously have a codeshare agreement with Transaero Airlines, which is a Russian airline that operated a Moscow to London route. This codeshare however, came to an end in 2015 when Transaero halted operations. The company also has an affiliate airline called easyJet Switzerland. It is not a member of any alliances, although it does have an arrangement with Emirates which allows Emirates Skywards members to use their miles to book easyJet flights.

Online check-in

Passengers on easyJet flights must check in online if they want to avoid being charged for checking in at the airport. Online check-in opens 30 days before a flight's departure and closes 2 hours before the scheduled leave time. Passengers can also check in either on the internet or by using the app, available for free on both iPhone and Android. Those using the mobile app to check in will receive a mobile boarding pass. To complete online check-in passengers will need their booking reference number. If they didn't enter their passport number when they booked the flight, they will also need to do that during check-in.

Hand luggage allowance

Hand baggage on an easyJet flight is limited to 1 piece per person and must not exceed 56 x 45 x 25 cm, inclusive of handles, wheels or other protrusions. There is no weight restriction for cabin baggage. Passengers with easyJet Plus, FLEXI fare, Upfront or Extra Legroom tickets are also entitled to an extra piece of cabin baggage. The maximum size for the extra item is 45 x 36 x 20 cm. Passengers travelling with a child younger than 2 years old may also bring a changing bag smaller than 45 x 36 x 20 cm. Any hand luggage exceeding these restrictions can incur a fee.

Checked baggage policy

Passengers must pay in advance to take checked baggage on their flight. Checked baggage on easyJet flights must have a combined length, width and height of 275 cm, plus weigh no more than a total mass of 20 kg. Passengers can however pay extra to take heavier luggage on their flight. The cost for this will be greater if it is not paid before arrival at the airport. Sports equipment is classified as either small or large. Small items have a weight limit of 20 kg and large items, 32 kg. These items should also be purchased in advance. Any passengers who need special assistance should contact easyJet a minimum of 48 hours before their flight.
