Lufthansa is a German airline that was founded by the country's government in 1926. The airline has since been privatised and is now publicly traded. It maintains hubs at Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport, plus has its headquarters located in Cologne, Germany. Over 250 Airbus and Boeing aircraft make up the entire Lufthansa fleet. The largest number of these aircraft are Airbus A320s. The airline flies to more than 200 destinations worldwide with some of the most popular Lufthansa flights those to London, Barcelona and Dusseldorf.
Lufthansa was one of Star Alliance's founding members in 1997. In addition to the other Star Alliance members, Lufthansa has several airlines with which it has codeshares. These are Air Malta, BMI regional, Germanwings, Luxair, SpiceJet and TAM Airlines. It also has several subsidiaries including Eurowings and Austrian Airlines. Lufthansa is Germany's biggest airline, but when including subsidiaries, it becomes Europe's largest airline.
Online check-in is available for Lufthansa flights, and opens 23 hours ahead scheduled take-off time. Online check-in also closes as late as 30 minutes before departure, depending on the flight. Passengers can check in online using a mobile or web browser, and will need their booking number to do so. When checking in online, passengers can choose their seat for the flight. There is no extra charge for doing so. It is not possible to purchase check baggage allowance during online check-in, and instead, this is determined during ticket purchase. Lufthansa's online check-in is not available for all routes so passengers should check before they fly.
On a Lufthansa flight, passengers' hand luggage allowance is tied to the class in which they are travelling. Economy and Premium Economy class passengers have a single 8 kg item allowance, while Business and First class passengers are granted permission to bring 2 items, weighing up to 8 kg each. Regardless of ticket class, the maximum dimensions for cabin baggage on a Lufthansa flight are 55 x 40 x 23 cm. All passengers can also take another smaller item of hand luggage up to 30 x 40 x 10 cm, free of charge. Prams and car seats for children and wheelchairs or other walking aids will also be carried free of charge. If items exceed these limits in either size or weight, they will be checked in to the hold and count towards a passenger's checked baggage allowance.
A passenger's ticket class determines their checked luggage allowance when flying with Lufthansa. The allowances are also different on flights within Europe and intercontinental flights. On European flights, Economy Light passengers have no checked luggage allowance, while Economy Classic and Economy Flex passengers are allowed 1 item weighing up to 23 kg. Business class passengers are allowed 2 items of up to 32 kg. On intercontinental flights, Economy passengers are allowed 1 item weighing up to 23 k, Premium Economy passengers are allowed 2 items of up to 23 kg, Business class passengers are allowed 2 items of up to 32 kg and First class passengers are allowed 3 items of up to 32 kg.
For all flights and classes, the maximum width, length and height of checked baggage must be no more than 158 cm. Children younger than 2 have an allowance on 1 item weighing up to 23 kg. Children older than 2 are subject to adult baggage restrictions. Passengers can also take 1 item of ski or snowboarding equipment, in addition to their checked baggage allowance at no extra cost. Baggage exceeding any of these limits will be subject to a charge.
very nice staff. They made the flight really quick and comfy.
Lufthansa is always great
I was happy that Lufthansa offered me to check my carry-on for free so that I had not to drag it along. The food was good, I was surprised to have fine quality earthenware dishes instead of plastic. The whole flight was quiet, the staff very pleasant.
Everything went to plan however I was disappointed not to have been able to make changes to the flight times after booking
No problem with flight ..but bag transfer from abu dhabi to zurich a disaster...i had to collect my baggage at zuruch from abu dhabi as etihaf refused to process baggage to dublin...then go put of security and reenter and check in luggage for my dublin flight..not you fault but only issue on whole trip..flights perfect ..

Our near new suitcases were severely damaged due to rough handling.
They cancelled my flight without any information.
