Opodo, the Pan-European online travel company has appointed Simon Tucker as its interim CEO.
Tucker, currently the Chief Financial Officer of Opodo, has an impressive 13-year track record in operational corporate finance and business planning; working at Director level with global travel services and e-commerce platforms including Thomas Cook and Hertz.
He joined Opodo in February 2001 and has been a key member of the senior management team taking Opodo from conception to becoming a leading European travel portal.
Commenting on the appointment, Opodo Chairman David Coltman said, "We are delighted that Simon has accepted the role of interim CEO and are confident that he will lead the company forward to the next stages of development. We will be taking a view on the appointment of a permanent CEO in the near future."
Tucker has already taken up the role of Interim CEO.
Opodo launched its first site (www.opodo.de) in Germany in December 2001, its UK site (www.opodo.co.uk) in January and its French site (www.opodo.fr) in April 2002.

About Simon Tucker
Prior to joining Opodo, Tucker launched the Internet travel agency Dreamticket.com, where he was responsible for negotiating venture capital and securing key industry partnership deals (1999 - 2001).
As Finance Director of the Global Traveller Services division for Europe's leading travel group, Thomas Cook, (1997 - 1999) Tucker established a strategy focused on delivering new products and distribution channels alongside the group's traditional travel and financial services offering.
It was at Hertz (1994-1997) that Tucker enjoyed his first taste of working at a pan-European level. First as Director of Business Planning for Hertz Europe and later as Finance Director of Hertz Germany.
From 1989-1994, Tucker worked as Divisional Finance Director at St Ives PLC, one of the UK's leading printing groups.
Tucker's first position (1987 - 1989) as a qualified accountant was at the UK retailer, Storehouse PLC.
Tucker qualified as an accountant in 1985 having trained with Ernst & Young and is a member of ACAEW.
Tucker (42) is a British citizen and lives in London with his wife and two children.
